Brilliant, gone are the days of struggling with cling film (which doesn't work). But why oh why don't the hospitals have shops that sell this product? Also other products that could be useful. Come on NHS, you could rent out shop spaces to this company, stop treating just the problem and look at the whole person. How much better do you feel when you can take a shower rather than standing on one leg having a wash? The more you feel you have control the faster you get better. - 23rd Nov, 2012

It does exactly what it says it will - keeps your wound dry whilst showering. I haven't tried it in the bath, but I expect it would work just as well. An excellent product. - 23rd Nov, 2012

Exactly as described - did the job perfectly. - 23rd Nov, 2012

I ordered this product on one day and it arrived the next. I'm really, really pleased with it. With my cast on for 5 weeks this product is perfect, slip it on and away you go....and the cast stays bone dry. Thanks Limbo :) - 23rd Nov, 2012

This was an absolute essential item following foot surgery as it enabled me to shower daily following the procedure. A real Godsend and kept me human - and clean!. - 23rd Nov, 2012

excellent! made the hassle of showering so much quicker and easier with my broken wrist! ... and it didn't leak at all! would definitely recommend to anyone else who has the misfortune of having to wear a cast for a while! - 22nd Nov, 2012

Perfect fit and perfectly waterproof every time. I love this product and would highly recommend it! - 22nd Nov, 2012

Great product, it's wonderful being able to get in the shower and not worry about my cast! Service was great too, my parcel arrived very quickly after ordering. - 22nd Nov, 2012

Absolutely fantastic. Six weeks without a comfortable shower worried me, trying to cover your leg with plastic bags etc. This Limb0 product was the best buy ever. Easy to use and reliable. Thank you - 22nd Nov, 2012

I received my purchase within a couple of days and after reading the intructons was able to use it straight away. I had help for the first use but once i gained confidence i was able to use this product on my own. It was fairly easy to put on and take off and very comfortable and 100% water tight. - 21st Nov, 2012

I placed an order because I had surgery on my knee and had to keep a large dressing on for 2 weeks. My order came really quickly, less than 24 hours in fact. I have been able to shower independently and know that my dressing won't be damaged or get wet. Good piece of mind. Claire Suffolk - 21st Nov, 2012

Brilliant - as a washing freak it kept me sane during the time my hand and wrist were bandaged. Kept the lower arm completely dry! Would highly recommend. - 21st Nov, 2012

Perfect fit and easy to use. Plenty of room inside for movement so not restricted at all and securely fitted at the top without being too tight

This is the second limbo we have had. The first one lasted 4 separate injuries or operations over a 15 year period. When it finally leaked we ordered a new one the same day! Could not be without one who can go weeks and not shower or bathe! - 21st Nov, 2012

Really pleased with this product, it's brilliant! It gives you the freedom to bathe and shower normally and the 30 minute use time is more than adequate. - 20th Nov, 2012

This product is fantastic i wont be without my Limbo half leg now. I can shower and bath without any worries of water getting in and ruining my plaster, - 20th Nov, 2012

An excellent product that made life so much easier; I would recommend it to anyone. I am using it when I bath or shower with a plaster caste to the knee because of a fractued fibula. I had six weeks in plaster to the knee 10 years ago when this product wasn't available and it was so much more difficult to keep clean. - 19th Nov, 2012

Great product, if we hadn't of purchased one my daughter couldn't of bathed and enjoyed her bath time! Making 6 weeks in plaster so much easier, thank you! - 19th Nov, 2012

Does what it says. I was only in a cast for 3 weeks but it kept my leg dry and looks as good as new after ~21 showers. The M80L size was a good fit for my 34" inside leg. Service was fine, ordered Thursday evening, dispatched Friday.

So happy with the product, have a cast on after a foot operation, same foot that was in cast 2 years ago so wanted to be prepared this time! I couldnt praise it enough, bath times arent a nightmare anymore! Thank you!! - 17th Nov, 2012

Broken Bones

A broken bone is a common event. Given time and the right care, the bone is able to heal itself. A plaster cast is applied to hold the arm or leg fracture in place while the bone heals. Once the plaster has been applied, you are advised to see a doctor the next day to check that it is fitted correctly.
On average, plaster casts stay on for about six weeks. This time is sometimes longer or shorter, depending on your age, general health and type of fracture. During this time, x-rays are done to check that the bone is healing well. If there are problems with the type of fracture or the way in which the fracture is healing, you may be referred to an orthopaedicsurgeon (bone doctor)

Fractures

Fractures can be painful. The pain can be extreme at the beginning but it will ease when the plaster is on and the fractured limb is supported and rested. The pain will settle even further over the next few weeks. Simple painkillers, such as paracetamol, are often needed. Check the packet for instructions. The plaster causes itchiness for a few days, but this should ease.

Caring for a fracture

The plaster cast supports and protects the
fracture while the bone heals. However, the cast can sometimes cause circulation problems.
The plaster cast supports and protects the fracture while the bone heals. However, the cast can sometimes cause circulation problems. To help prevent this:
In the case of an upper limb plaster cast, exercise the fingers often. In the case of a lower limb plaster cast, exercise the toes often. Keep the plastered body part raised to prevent swelling, especially for the first 48 hours. For example, use a sling to keep an arm raised, or place pillows under your leg. Ask the doctor or nurse for suggestions.

Caring for the plaster

The plaster is important, as it keeps the fracture in an acceptable position. Suggestions include:
Rest for a couple of days once the plaster is applied to allow it to set completely. Keep the plaster dry. Use a LimbO waterproof cast protector when having a shower or bath. Try to keep the plaster out of the rain. Don't stick objects down the plaster, as this will damage the skin. Don't cut or interfere with the cast. Don'twalk on the plaster. It is better to use crutches instead. Don't lift anything or drive until the fracture is healed. Follow all plaster care instructions given to you by medical staff.
